Update 1/6 2010

In the first trip, the Freedom Flotilla of May 2010, Ship to Gaza Sweden contributed with this cargo:

• 300 tons of cement
• 300 meter power cable for a water pump
• 300 meter control cabnle for the same pump
• 2 diesel powered welding machines (financed by "Nordisk hjälp")

The three latter points were all addressed to the water utilituies of Gaza, CMWU. All the material was purchased in Greece, since our ship left from there.

Israel, who now have attacked the ships, and brought them to Isreali harbour, have said they will transfer the goods to Gaza "after security control". We don't know the criteria for these controls, and it is uncertain how much of it will finally reach it's destination.

General

The task of the cargo group is to aquire the equipment our ship shall bring to Gaza. What this will be is a common decision for 'Ship to Gaza', but we are responsible for the practical handling of it. In the first phase it's about prices, suppliers and if possible donations.

Later we will have to handle price talks, logistics and storage matters, compiling of documentation for the users, and more.

The plans for cargo is spare parts and other equipment for the improve the fresh water and sewage situation in Gaza. We also plan to send construction materials.

Needs reported by the water utilities

Here is a list of goods we know are needed to maintain the water and sewage system in Gaza. Anyone whith knowledge or contacts that can help us find any of these things, are most welcome to contact us!! We have more exact specifications for most of the points.

• Submersible water pumps, size app. kW.
• Overhead transformers 22/0,4kV, 250 and 400kVA.
• Overhead network disconnector 22kV.
• Water meters, different sizes.
• Impellers and other accessories for sewage pumps, Flygt and KSB.
• Electric cables.
• Tapping saddles and repair coupling collars, different dimensions.
• Protective working shoes, different sizes.
• Hard protective working hats.
